Sidecar Cocktail Recipe
If you are a purist who likes nothing but original cocktails then this sidecar cocktail recipe is for you. Though there are many claims of definite and accurate recipe of it in multiple books with each having different proportions of ingredients, all agree on common ingredient types. This recipe uses them in 2:1:1 proportions which makes it a balanced sour drink which is neither too dry nor too sweet.
Preparation Time: 2 minutes
Serves: 1 serving
Glassware: Cocktail glass
|2 oz (60 ml) Cognac or Brandy|
|1 oz (30 ml) Cointreau or Any Orange Liqueur|
|1 oz (30 ml) Lemon Juice|
|1 Orange Wheel or Lemon Twist|
|1 teaspoon Bar Sugar (optional)|
- Take chilled cocktail glass and rim it with bar sugar (optional step – not used in classic original recipe).
- Shake first three classic sidecar drink ingredients with ice in cocktail shaker for 10-15 seconds.
- Strain and pour into sugar-rimmed glass, garnish with orange wheel or lemon twist and serve.
